Solar Eclipse Observation Evening on the Bellalui Ridge – 12 August 2026

On 12 August 2026, the skies above the Alps will offer a rare spectacle that only a fortunate few will have the opportunity to witness: a solar eclipse, visible from the heights of Bellalui. A unique encounter with the cosmos, best enjoyed high above the valley, away from the crowds, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.

From approximately 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the moon will gradually pass in front of the sun, creating a silent and fascinating celestial spectacle that nature offers only on rare occasions.

Access

For this exceptional evening, the Crans – Cry d'Er gondola will operate on a special schedule:

• from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• and from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

At the top station, a selection of light refreshments will be available, including popcorn, crisps, sweet treats, and hot or cold drinks, allowing you to enjoy the evening while admiring the sky.

From there, an easy 30-minute walk along a hiking trail leads to the Bellalui ridge. Sturdy footwear is recommended to fully enjoy the walk.

Event prices

Adults: CHF 25 (CHF 20 for annual pass holders)

Youth (16–20 years): CHF 12 (CHF 10 for annual pass holders)

Children (under 16): Free

The ticket includes a welcome drink served at the gondola arrival station to celebrate this unique occasion.

Access is reserved for pedestrians only. Bicycles are not permitted.

Eclipse viewing glasses

To observe the eclipse safely, certified eclipse glasses will be available for CHF 5, both online and on site.

The event is subject to weather conditions and a minimum number of participants. In the event of bad weather or insufficient registrations, the organisers reserve the right to cancel the event.
